Growing progressive technological concepts to compete within the present digital dispensation – Bono East regional minister urges entrepreneurs

Bono East Regional Minister Kwesi Adu Gyan has urged the region’s youth to capitalize on the Covid-19 pandemic and work on developing innovative technological ideas that would enable them to keep up with the current digital dispensation.

He made this call while sticking to the participants of the first Bono East Digital Jobs Fair, which took place in Techiman under the topic “Building resilient creatives for the job market”.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has its own advantages and disadvantages, but the pandemic, if it has done anything positive for us in the IT world, is to enable people to see that we are in a global economy live and that everything happens in the world. Every part of the world affects everyone everywhere in the world, ”he said.

With the Techiman market being the largest food crop market in the West African sub-region, the minister urged people to develop platforms that would serve as an e-commerce hub to showcase products to farmers from near and far.

“Sitting here in Techiman and knowing very well that Techiman is a trading city offers many possibilities. I can’t understand why someone at Techiman can’t have Techiman Market as an e-commerce platform to showcase their products. We sell yams, corn and just about anything here, and if you have an e-commerce store on the internet there are people in Accra who need such products and would buy from you, ”he said.

The chief executive officer of Agrico Hub, the organizers of the event, announced that the move aims to create more jobs for the younger generation through digital space.

“You know Covid has come and created a lot of trade imbalances, but with the use of digital tools like social media and other local digital avenues, we can help our employees who are interested in different types of business grow their businesses”.

However, he added, “We invited a lot of companies to the job fair, and we see a lot of company organizations that are here to provide jobs for the attendees and people get work right here. This is one of the reasons why we launched this fair. “

He added that the company with the Bono East region is training more people in digital media in terms of internet usage to fill the gap.

“If you look at the regional internet usage divide, you will find that Bono East, we are not doing so well and as a business innovation hub we use entrepreneurship combined with digitization and this means that we will close the gap forwards,” noted he continues.

Some of the participants expressed their joy with the program and hope that their respective units will change in the future.
